What if all could speak with one voice?

11/27/09 05:28 pm - Woah!

I realized this afternoon that I had both Gin and a Hip flask that has never seen use. I then filled the hip flask with Gin and watched Summer Wars (from Madhouse Studios), during which the hip flask when strangely empty. Hmm. I wonder where the Gin went . . .

Also, why do I feel so dizzy, even 90 minutes after finishing Summer wars?

Hmmm...

11/26/09 05:15 pm - Familial Blogging Plug

My brother has created an exceptionally nerdy blog to write 'interesting little mathematical results' that he has come up with.

interesting

11/16/09 11:15 am - Ha. . . haha. HAhahahah!

Oh WOW!

Trying to pay a parking ticket online. The ticket was initially for 15 dollars, but I accidentally forgot to pay it within 48 hours, so that takes it up to 25 dollars. After 72 Hours, the ticket comes up another 25 dollars.

Found the ticket this morning. I had till 11:08 (2 minutes ago).

Came home to pay, as I don't trust my work computer, and the website that I had to pay through (since I couldn't mail it and I don't know where they are located at) wouldn't load.

Try to call them and get an answering machine.

So, I just sit refreshing the page hoping it will eventually load.

At 11:07, it loads. And I manage to get the information in and get the payment (via paypal) through before 11:08.

hehehe. Either someone up there loves me or hates me (or the internet, maybe)

How is everyone?

11/10/09 07:39 pm - New OK Go video - "WTF" (it's pretty good!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9H5bUxe3v9g

At first I thought that it was going to be crap, but then I watched a littler further and realized that they were doing some very interesting things.

I have liked OK Go's videos from the first one on the treadmills, and part of the charm is the awesome choreography in one take. This is less about physical choreography and more about taking a technological gimmick and doing something really cool with it. It's different, but still really interesting.

Give it a watch!

10/23/09 10:06 pm - Another update

Me mum is shaking pretty badly right now. Well, saying 'badly' implies something, it isn't out of control.

Urr, I don't know. I'm concerned, a little.

tl;dr - you have a short attention span if you need one of these for this post.

10/20/09 09:06 pm - Update on my mother's arm

They went to see a specialist today while I was at work, took some more x-rays. I was wrong about the location of the break. it wasn't the radius or the ulna that was the location of the break. here is an image hosted on Wikipedia:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a7/HumerusFront.png

It was the upper arm bone that was the location of the break, at the very top, where the bone attaches to the shoulder. The very top of that ball joint. Also - this specialist knew what he was looking for and took better X-rays, and found at least three more breaks all through my mom's humerus. They think they'll find more when they open her up for surgery on thursday. Yea, she's going under the knife. They know for a fact that she will need a metal plate in her arm, at least.

I'm not happy about this, really. But, what ya gonna do? She still won't share her Vicodin! >:-(

Next post: I listen to conservative talk radio, and they're playing documented speeches (not making 'hate speech conjecture') by the president, senators, representatives and the people who these groups listen to who are saying, explicitly, that they want to tear down insurance and drug companies in favor of a no-competition one payer (socialized) government health care plan, and how I feel about this.

tl;dr
Fuck, I'm glad my mother is having this happen NOW and not in 6 months to a year.
tl;dr;dr
Also, I'm concerned for my mother.

10/19/09 08:45 pm - A whole pile of shit just fell all over my shit

>_< wow.

So, my mother broke her arm today. Slipped on some slush and snapped one of the two bones in the lower arm right below the ball joint that allows the arm to turn. Fuckin' a, that isn't going to be a good thing, they might have to operate. So, my mom is riding high on morphine and Vicodin right now (and won't share, stingy bitch lol). When I finally got home today, I noticed that one of my dogs was limping, badly. Apparently she had gotten out of the backyard dog run this afternoon while a branch was being removed, and got into some thistles. So, her leg is kinda fucked and we probably need to take her to the vet (there's some sort of damage to the leg, and she can't put weight on it). After I noticed my one dog limping, I noticed my other dog licking a candy wrapper. I didn't think anything of it until later, when I came into my room and found a thoroughly guilty looking dog, a mostly empty bad of halloween size kit-kat bars, and only two wrappers. And a veritable oil slick of chocolate kit-kat crumbs all over my floor. I don't know how many he ate, and there are no wrappers anywhere, so however many he ate, he ate the goddamn wrappers, too.

FUCK! It's a lot all at once, that's all.

Also, I ate a metric shit-ton of carbs today for lunch (chicken lo mein with steamed rice, large portions as per the usual portion size of the Hunan Wok) and now I've got some sort of horrible digestive issues, as well, just to make me miserable inside and out. Fcuk Fkuc Fukc!

10/16/09 11:44 pm - In other news

No longer sick. Back.

It is snowing, and basically it won't stop for another day or two.

Haaaaa. So tiring.

I have just come to the conclusion that "Honey and Clover" is one of the best things ever.

Buy the manga, or buy the anime. You can get the first 13 episodes at best buy for 40 dollars. This is a good deal.

The snow was so awesome on thursday night that I actually got a ticket and went to the top of the tallest parking garage in town. I walked around in 2 inches of accumulated snow in leather sandals, smoked cheap, flavored cigarillos, and basically soaked in the mood.

I was filled with such melancholy. It was really, truly an awesome thing.

Watching Kimi ni Todoke. Apparently there's an anime now. The second volume of manga just came out in America. I am full of depress, because I want to read the manga before I watch the anime, and there are at least 9 volumes of manga. Volume 3 isn't going to be coming out in America until January 2010. Depress. Oh well, I'll keep downloading episodes and just not watch them! T_T

It makes me a little sad that the Honey and Clover manga ends after 10 volumes. We're up to volume 7, so by this time next year, the last 3 should have been released. I don't know how I feel about that.

Oh well, just so well as the manga has a definitive end, with a solid final story arch that skillfully and irrevocably ties up all the loose ends, and puts everyone on one possible path that . . . that we can . . . hrmph, hmmmmmph. Heh. HEH heheheeEHEHEHEHEEHEHEEHEEHEHEHEEH! HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAH AAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*koff* Sorry. Sorry. Hehe. Choked on a little hubris, is all. ^_^

If you don't get why I'm laughing, you need to read more manga. Or more japanese literature of any sort. But especially manga.

9/30/09 04:45 pm - Final Fantasy XIII

I don't know what the hell they're saying, but damn does this game look pretty!

9/26/09 02:43 am - Paranormal Activity (movie)

I watched it with the Ogre.

I found it deeply unsettling, and for basically the entire second half of the movie I had my fingers in my ears for about half the time. So for 1/4 of the movie, I had to filter the movie to make it less unsettling and watchable.

Damn midnight showings.

Neat story behind it too, but I'm really fucking tired and I have a client at 10 tomorrow.

9/17/09 10:07 pm - Genshiken 2

I need to go finish the last episode on the Disc, but I just gotta say that I really love the Genshiken anime.

From the self referential 'next episode' overviews talking about how long it was between seasons 1 and 2 of genshiken to making an entire episode based on stuff that happened off-screen in the manga (and actually doing it well zomg!) . . .

Right now I'm watching a really explicit make-out scene. I actually had to pause the show and write this post to cool off. ~^_^~

orz

oh well. Back to the episode OH GOT IS IT THAT LATE?!

I gotta do some cleaning and take out the garbage before I go to bed! DAMN YOU GENSHIKEN! I WAS LOOKING FOR ERASERHEAD IN BEST BUY!!!

6/30/09 03:34 am - I feel weird

It's strange. About 3:15 AM on June 30 2009 I started feeling very weird. It's like there's a light pain over my right jaw down through my chest, that is coming in waves ( I can't tell if it is above or under my ribcage. It comes and goes, not feeling particularly bad but not feeling 'right' either). My guts feel a little strange, as well, almost like constipation. And I feel like I need to burp.

I don't THINK I'm having a heart attack (although some of this stuff matches a little bit of the wikipedia page on the symptoms of heart attack), but who knows? I've put on a lot of weight recently and I haven't been eating well, at all. And on Saturday I took a walk with some friends that had me reeling by the end, pulse pounding and nauseous (knocking loose some plaque or something similar?)

This is mainly here so that I have some documentation in case something happens (because I'm really paranoid), which is why I have the date/time at the top.

I'm going to bed now.

5/23/09 05:02 pm - Problems! Tech people, can you help?

Hey, tech people! Thursday morning at 8:00 there was a power dip. My computer was turned on and downloading from bittorrent at the time.

Now, it will not connect to the internet. I've gone through several things on the internet. I've gone through several things on the computer. I've unplugged everything several times, I've restarted my computer several times. Every tool that I can use says that I have a strong connection to the internet, both ethernet and wireless (just on the off chance that I fucked up my ethernet port, I installed a wireless adapter, which says that it has a strong connection to the internet). However, I still can't connect via Firefox, and Steam (a program related to games) which connects independently via your internet connection, will not connect. They don't even register that there is a connection.

I don't know what else to do. Part of the problem is that my mother's macbook is also having similar issues, and it runs wireless, and wasn't connected to the power lines at the time of the blip.

Anyone have some advice that I could use? I Really need to get back to Team Fortress 2; they just had a content update, and I need to get on that.

5/21/09 03:32 am - Handley Case closed

Christopher Handley has pled guilty to several felonies. He'll be getting 15 years, and owe $250,000. All the stuff that was collected as evidence he has agreed to forfeit.

I can't help but think how badly this man has been screwed by a justice system that is supposed to benefit the people it represents.

I don't even want to be able to think anymore.

4/12/09 09:23 pm - Post Anime Night

Everyone who came, it was a fun night. Thank you for coming.

I got 2 hours of sleep before dawn, and then I got up and continued watching Eureka 7. As of right now, I have finished the first 5 DVDs. It felt good doing it, really good.

I wish I could watch the last DVD tonight, while I still have the vibe going (it is a really pleasant sensation). Parents want to watch The Unit, though, and I need to get some sleep so that I can function tomorrow. I'll enjoy volume 6 when I watch it. Then I might hold off on continuing the series until I pick up volumes 8-11. 1-6 go through a specific sort of arc, and the ending is very satisfying. Volume 7 picks right up from volume 6, but the tone is immediately more severe - dark, despondent and extremely violent (and two really cool characters are killed after their introduction only 5 or 6 episodes prior).

I'm going to do a little work online, then to bed.

Russel: Did you have a little Winchester tool bag, black, with a multitool and screwdriver bit set in your car last night? A neighbor picked up said bag (more like a compact pouch) from in front of the house this morning, and you were the only person who I thought it might belong to.

4/8/09 11:30 am - Aftermath of "Boy, what a shit day!"

I realized that I hadn't posted anything since the last, kinda down post.

here's what ended up happening:

I was able to smooth it over with apologies and chocolates. As it turns out, the woman who was in before me was actually kinda worried when I didn't show up and didn't return the calls. She knew, occasional lateness aside, that I don't just up and not show up, ever. So, the people involved have been placated, all around, no hurt feelings (but some serious ribbing).

It cost me 105 dollars to get the car out of hock. Of course, I had to pay this money to my parents, as I was working that day past the time when the garage closed. So, no parental help, no car until sometime the next day (and really spotty bus coverage).

So, it's all resolved.
